When Life is Like a Tree
(I discovered a new poet the other day and this is one of his great poems. His name is Michael Dennis Browne and his book of poems is called, Things I Can't Tell You. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. )
"If there were no trees
I would take my turn
And stand in the street in spring
With arms wide open
In case there were birds
Who needed a place to sing."
"He put before them another parable: 'The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.'"
(Matthew 13.31-33)
