Sometimes you want to stand up and applaud some church's actions. This is not easy to do in a toxic political environment. With Ushers standing at the door of some churches with guns...and some pastors totally silent--I am proud of my old church in Memphis. Memphis is not an easy place to serve. But where is? Yet--this sign on their grounds speaks a multitude of prophetic words. I think all those who huddled under desks in Parkland weeks ago--scared for their lives would be proud of this sign. I also think all the parents who have stood by the loss of a child to gun violence would smile at this sign. We cannot lose heart--and I pray the battle for safe gun control will stay before us.

As it is illegal to carry a gun on church premises this sign is unnecessary. You have to have specific, written permission from the pastor or governing body even if you have a concealed carry permit.
