I don’t know the origin of friends. But the word must go way back. In old English friend was derived from the word, freond which meant to love or favor.
I have been overwhelmed by all the birthday greetings I got last week. My, my as I read those names I remembered back when…My memories went in all directions and leave me almost speechless—if a preacher can say this.
So I thank you for remembering once upon a time. I don’t know how to put what I want to say to you in words. So I lean on that song from Neil Young.
One of These Days
One of these days
I’m going to sit down and write a long letter
to all the good friends
I’ve known
And I’m going try
To thank them for all the good times together
Though so apart
We’ve grown.
+ + +
One of these days
I’m going to sit down and write a long letter
To all the good friends I’ve known
One of these days
One of these days
One of these days
And it won’t be long
It won’t be long
One of these days
One of these days
One of these days
And it won’t be long
It won’t be long.
Thanks for all the memories.
